DISCOVER

Taking time to understand your project before we get started

Every Chiller Box project starts with listening. Before we design anything, we need to understand your concept, how your kitchen or facility operates, what you need it to do, and what constraints we’re working with.

This phase is about getting the brief right. The time we invest here saves weeks later and ensures your project is completed on time, and on budget.

What happens in this phase:

Initial enquiry and conversation

You tell us about your project. We listen, ask the right questions, and give you an honest steer on feasibility and next steps.

Briefing meeting and site survey

We visit your site or review plans for new builds. Our team will assess the space, review existing services, and understand the operational requirements.

Discuss ideas and define the scope

We work through your priorities, timelines, budget parameters, and any compliance or regulatory requirements that need to be addressed from the outset.

What you get at the end of Discover

At the end of the ‘Discover’ stage, you’ll have a clear, agreed project brief that gives us everything needed to progress into design. It’s important we have a strong understanding of your project from the outset.

Design

Designing kitchens around how they’re used every day

This is where your project takes shape. Our designs are informed by practical experience and focus on the type of food you will be serving and how your kitchen will operate day to day, from workflow and compliance to ventilation and long-term use.

What happens in this phase:

Preliminary design and layout

We produce initial kitchen layouts using CAD, 3D visuals, and BIM-ready design where required. Every layout is built around operational flow, not just available space.

Client feedback and refinement

We present the design, walk you through the decisions, and refine based on your input. This is a collaborative process. Your operational knowledge combined with our technical expertise produces the best results.

Final design approval and specification

Once you’re happy with the design, we finalise the technical specification. Every piece of equipment, every service connection, every compliance requirement is documented and confirmed.

Quotation

You will receive a clear, detailed quotation with no hidden costs. We specify exactly what’s included so there are no surprises during the build.

DELIVER

Professional installation with director-level involvement

Delivery is where experience really matters. By keeping design and installation closely aligned and coordinating all trades through one accountable team, we ensure projects run smoothly and timelines are protected.

At Chiller Box, the people who designed your project are the same people who oversee the installation. That continuity is what keeps projects on track.

What happens in this phase:

Client order and project scheduling

We confirm the order, lock in lead times, and produce a detailed project programme. You’ll know exactly when each stage is happening.

Site coordination and installation

Our directors manage the on-site delivery. We coordinate with other trades as required, manage deliveries, and ensure the installation is delivered exactly as designed.

Why this process works

A process built from two decades of delivery

Our process has been built through experience. It’s the result of delivering hundreds of projects across hospitality, education, healthcare and food retail since 2004.

Every step reflects what we’ve learned over time about what helps projects run smoothly and where problems can arise.

Key outcomes of our process:

FAQs

Common questions about working with Chiller Box

From compliance guides to design walk-throughs, our Resource Hub answers your questions before you even need to ask.

How long does a typical commercial kitchen project take?

Timelines vary depending on scale and complexity. A straightforward equipment replacement might take a few weeks. A full design-and-build project for a commercial kitchen typically runs 8 to 16 weeks from brief to handover. We’ll give you a realistic timeline during the Discover phase, and we’re transparent if anything changes.

Do I need to appoint separate contractors for design and installation?

No. Chiller Box manages the full process: design, specification, procurement, installation, commissioning, handover and training. You will have one team, one point of contact and one programme so it’s simpler for you and reduces the risk of miscommunication between trades.

Can you work alongside other contractors on a larger build?

Absolutely. We regularly coordinate with main contractors, architects, M&E consultants, and other trades on multi-stakeholder projects. Our directors are experienced at managing these relationships and working within broader project programmes.

What happens if something changes during the project?

Projects evolve and we understand that. If the scope changes, we’ll discuss the implications openly, adjust the programme and quotation accordingly, and make sure you’re fully informed before any decisions are made.

Do you offer aftercare once the project is complete?

Yes. Our support continues long after handover. We provide warranty management, after-sales service, and ongoing customer care. Many of our clients come back to us years later for refurbishments, upgrades, or new projects. That’s a reflection of the relationship, not just the installation.

What size projects do you typically handle?

We work across a wide range of project sizes. Our specialism is projects that require proper planning, technical expertise, and coordinated delivery as we know we can make a measurable difference. That could be a single-room kitchen refurbishment or a multi-site rollout. If you’re unsure whether your project is a good fit, just pick up the phone. We’re always happy to have a conversation.

What accreditations does Chiller Box hold?

We’re award winning members of CEDA, Build UK and Cedabond, and registered with Gas Safe. Full details are available on our About us page.
