Looking back on 2022 at Chiller Box
With only a few weeks until the end of the year we’re reflecting on 2022. It’s been another challenging year for our industry as not only is everyone recovering from the pandemic, but the staff shortages in hospitality have continued, along with rising energy costs and the national cost of living crisis. However, what still inspires us most about working in hospitality are the driven, passionate and supportive people you meet. We’ve supported new businesses, helped those in growth and completed a number of full kitchen refurbishments in restaurants, schools and care homes.
Our managing director, Marios, has shared some of his 2022 highlights.
Expanding our project portfolio
Throughout 2022 we have worked on a wide range of projects. The year got off to a great start as we completed work at the London Business School creating a dedicated pantry to be used alongside the main kitchen. We’ve also continued our efforts in the education sector with a refurbishment project at Coombe Girls’ School.
Smithfield Market has been our regular home over recent months as we’re working on a new farm to fork concept which we’ll be able to tell you more about in the New Year. Neat Burger has remained one of our key clients during 2022 and we recently secured the order for the kitchen at their latest site at the O2. In the last few weeks our team have begun work at the Ruskin Hotel in London. These are just a few of the projects we’ve helped with, and we hope that gives you a flavour of the variety of businesses which Chiller Box can support.
Reaching our 18th birthday
Those of you who regularly follow us on social media may remember us sharing our 18th birthday celebrations in June. This is a milestone we are extremely proud of. As part of this we created a range of videos where members of our team reflected on some of their favourite Chiller Box memories. It was great to look back and see how far the business has come and how we’ve got over many hurdles along the way.
Celebrating success via industry awards
This year we entered the CEDA Grand Prix Awards for our Medi Meze Lounge and Bar project. We were delighted to get through the first round of judging and received some fantastic feedback from the team at CEDA. These awards are so important for shining the spotlight on a wide range of commercial catering and design projects.
Chiller Box was also shortlisted for the Digital Initiative of the Year at the Catering Insight Awards. The team at Catering Insight recognised the hard work that goes into creating our regular videos which showcase our project work, views on the industry and behind the scenes with the Chiller Box team. Whilst we didn’t take home the trophy, we had a fantastic evening celebrating with peers across the industry.
Working in partnership
Another highlight for 2022 has been strengthening our relationships with industry associations. We’ve re-joined the FCSI UK&I as an Allied member and are looking forward to attending future events.
This year, we’ve also attended CEDA and Cedabond events and chatted to their supplier partners. You may have seen the videos created by our junior content producer, Alex which we shared with some of our regular suppliers for their own channels.
2023 here we come!
