Behind the scenes of London Business School North Building Pantry Project

    PUBLISHED: 11/07/2022

The Chiller Box team have recently handed over another project and this time it was a pantry at London Business School’s North Building. This was a spin off from the main kitchen project we worked on a few months ago. Our client was really happy with the work we did on the main events kitchen, so much so that at handover we were asked to quote on this next job.

This one was a smaller project as the room will be used more like a finishing kitchen with the majority of cooking taking place in the main kitchen area. Once again, this was a turnkey project so we had to strip it out and put in new hygienic floor and wall finishes, whilst adapting services such as power, water and drainage to suit the new layout. Our team also implemented all the stainless-steel equipment such as sinks and the dishwasher area as well as a combi-oven and beverage station. This pantry will be used for serving everything from hot and cold drinks to full scale meals, to students, clients and guests of the School who are having meetings or private events on the same floor.

The project took three weeks from taking possession to handing the keys back, but like the previous London Business School project we had to complete the works around events already booked to take place. If we were working on a task that would create a lot of noise we needed to make sure our client was aware in advance so they could book out the nearby rooms so meetings weren’t disrupted.

This programme of works also included the Platinum Jubilee weekend so we had to adapt our timetable so that we could ensure this didn’t impact the overall deadline.

The London Business School is not only a prestigious client, but they have expertise in running an estate of properties with an in-house facilities team who understand construction. This makes for an enjoyable working relationship as they listen to our advice and understand some of the challenges that arise in this line of work.
