Behind the scenes in the Medi Meze & Lounge

    PUBLISHED: 20/07/2021

We were first approached about working on the Medi Meze & Lounge project after the owners had read about our hospitality design and build work online. From the first phone call, we had a really positive working relationship with the team, in fact you could describe them as our ideal client. They knew exactly what they wanted but were also really willing to listen to our feedback and ideas which helped this partnership to gel so well. Confirmation was given for the project at the start of Lockdown 3.0, and we were excited about helping this new venture to open ready for the industry bouncing back once restrictions were lifted.

    Medi Mezi Lounge

The concept is seasonal Mediterranean cuisine accompanied by a mixologist bar and a lavish shisha lounge area. Our role was to work on the main kitchen and bar area as well as the shisha bar in the courtyard. The shisha lounge area features comfortable couches, heated lamps, daylight lighting, ambient lounge music and wild plants. Medi Meze’s target demographic is a young and trendy clientele, so the décor includes lots of Instagrammable features to actively encourage sharing on social media.

With this being a start-up, we helped the owners with financing elements of the project. We have a finance broker who advises on the most effective ways to fund a hospitality build like his. Despite the challenges that the lockdown brought, the project went relatively smoothly and has now opened. We were able to work around the other contractors who were involved with this exciting development. When necessary, we would adjust our own timescales so that we weren’t delaying opening for our client.

We started by working on the canopy and ventilation, then worked on the bar area and then the theatre kitchen. In the last few weeks, we’ve been doing testing and training staff on how to use all the equipment. When we complete a job, we handover a branded bound folder which includes training guides, operating manuals, warranties, serial numbers, drawings and any other documentation that would help the client.
We loved going into this venue to take photographs of the finished project. The client is happy with how things have worked at our end. Any issues have been minor, and we have tackled things head on to ensure we helped to create a hospitality venue with the wow-factor.
