‘To be the best in the business, that’s our mission’ states Marios Poumpouris co-founder of Chiller Box, commercial refrigeration and general catering equipment supplier. A year down the line since their launch Poumpouris is confident that they are on their way to achieving their goal. ‘It’s been a tough year, but we said what we wanted to do, and have done what we said, allowing us to establish ourselves in what is a very competitive market place.’
So what is it that makes Chiller Box as good as they say. ‘Essentially it’s about providing quality products, at competitive prices, backed up by a service that is second to none,’ Poumpouris continues, ‘but more than that, it’s about understanding your customer and their commercial needs and concerns.’
And Dylan Murray, former manager of Axis, at renowned London hotel One Aldwych, and now manager of Dylan’s Restaurant agrees: ‘I have had the pleasure of relying on these fundamentals without concern when dealing with Chiller Box. I find the company to be extremely professional, reliable and very honest.’
In terms of their products, Chiller Box’s menu is extensive. ‘We’re a one-stop-shop for all your needs, from pots ‘n’ pans, to glass washers, to heavy duty cooking equipment’ adds Michael Michael, Chiller Box’s other half. ‘And we’ve got access to the whole market place, which means we can meet any challenges faced by a restaurant or bar owner. Chiller Box will make sure you get the right equipment for your operation, regardless of budget, site or time restrictions.’
On this basis, Chiller Box were the catering equipment supplier of choice for the recently opened restaurant, bar and nightclub, The Hill in north London’s Muswell Hill (as featured in the June issue of Theme).
The nature of the project meant that the clients, former British athletes Steve Gutteridge and Brian Taylor, needed to draw on Chiller Box’s diverse skills base. There was a mix of existing and new equipment, with some items requiring service and repair, and others supply and installation, but all requiring project management to military precision to meet the phased programme.
Additionally when a number of bottle coolers were stolen a day before the nightclub’s launch party, Chiller Box responded by speedily sourcing, delivering and installing replacement fridges in time to allow the opening to go ahead - much to the relief of the owners. The overall result? Yet another happy and well serviced customer!
CHILLER BOX LAUNCH - 26 JULY 2004
This week marks the launch of Chiller Box. Working in close association with manufacturer Foster Refrigerator, Chiller Box will specialise in the supply of cold rooms and commercial refrigeration.
Their menu offering will also include air conditioning installation, and the ability to source any item of catering equipment the busy caterer, chef, restaurateur or bar owner (or any other client for that matter!) may require.
Chiller Box comes as a result of a collaboration between Michael Michael of MM Refrigeration and Air Conditioning - a successful London based supply and maintenance company, founded some 12 years ago - and former City Surveyor, Marios Poumpouris.
Chiller Box’s mission is ‘to be the best in the business’. Drawing on his experience in construction consultancy, Marios likens the business to others in the professional service industry. ‘There’s a lot of competition out there’, he said, ‘so the only way to win in the long term is by providing quality products at competitive prices, backed up by a service that is second to none. That way, clients will keep coming back because they know they’ll be well looked after.’
Michael was also quick to quip ‘this in an exciting time for us... we’re enthusiastic and committed, and ready to give our customers the love they deserve’.
